Where is Home?

I've always traveled more than most and some people never understood how I didn't mind not knowing which city I was waking up in. It was part of my corporate life for many years in the beginning of my career and honestly, I love the absence of boredom when one travels, exploring the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of new locations, even when one has to work. But there have been some sacrifices for this lifestyle, like relationships where one person is at home while the other travels can be difficult to maintain. Having or not having a family was certainly something that had to be considered. I did try to settle down for someone and work from one location. Even though we took several vacations a year, it was probably the most miserable 9 years of my life, feeling imprisoned as I sacrificed my own happiness to please someone else.

So I had to ask myself the question, where is home? Here's the answer that I came up with.

Sedona: A Guide to Spotting a Fake

Sedona is a beautiful place full of red rocks and crimson sunsets. You're never at a loss for something to do, the hiking is spectacular and you can find great places to meditate and food that will please every palette. It's chuck full of the most talented artists and musicians I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and is also a great place to regain your spiritual roots and increase your consciousness.  Having lived in Sedona, it has been a main backdrop in some of my books, because it's a place where strange and amazing events and transformations occur.
Sedona Psychics. Good Sedona Psychics. Find Sedona Psychics
As far as the practitioners, I get asked a lot about the validity of some of the practitioners in Sedona. These questions apply to all forms of spiritual modalities in a town where you can toss a stone and hit more people trying to sell you some spiritual this or that, from a reading, healing, channel, crystal or amulet.

I've tried many places and practitioners and have spoken to other spiritual minded people in the couple of years that I've lived in Sedona.  Now
I don't begrudge anyone from making a living, but from my experience, I can tell you that, like anything else in life, there are more talented people than others and that all people have good and bad days.
Find Sedona Psychic. Best Sedona Psychics
Good Sedona Psychics
Although I've met many talented Sedona psychics, channels, readers and teachers, unfortunately because Sedona is a place where people of love and light gather, it also attracts darkness in the form of unsavory characters. For every great practitioner there is a charlatan (male and female) in the shadows waiting to scam as many of the tens of thousands visitors each year that are searching for answers and healing that grace this town with their presence.

I've have also read the reviews on the boards, just like you, and some of them I agree with while others leave me scratching my head as I peruse incredible reviews for talentless scammers who seem to be permanent fixtures and are, in my opinion, the worst of the worst. I guess that's why they're still around, because they're great at what they do. No one said that scammers were lazy.

I was concerned for about a second that this article might anger some Sedona folk, but if they live in Love and Light and work for the highest good of their clients, then they know that I'm not talking about them.

Below is food for thought and tips on how to determine a fake as well as how to find a good Sedona spiritualist.

Determining if someone is a Fake in Sedona
Number 1 - Shamans
I've spent a lot of time in Central and South America with actual Shamans of several tribes.

Update (June 2014) I'm in the middle of Brazil. The experiences have thus far been amazing as I increase my awareness and vibration as I explain some of my supernatural experiences in the last 50 pages of my travel guide about visiting John of God. While there I visited many different towns, once again participating in Ayahuasca and healing ceremonies with native spiritualists, elders (Shamans) and great people who practice natural medicine.

But back to the point. I am a 5 time Reiki Master, work with energy, lecture and council people to help them awaken and move forward using all the tools at my disposal.  I have participated in Ayahuasca ceremonies with South American tribes and worked with Shamans while I was in the Peruvian Amazon jungle for 3 months in the 1990's, and while in Brazil for months at a time between 2003 and 2014. But just because I've spent a collective amount of years in my lifetime working with Shamans, learning from them directly and have a great deal of knowledge and training in Shamanic practices and uses these in the services I offer my clients, I do not profess to be a Shaman.  Every Shaman I've met over the past 20+ years has been very humble as they follow their heart with their energy off the charts.
It's a life-long calling and something that is not taken lightly as they work with “dense, heavy and very strong energy.”  It's a talent that's not obtained from a series of homogenized classes in a schoolroom, you either come to this world with it or you don’t.  I've never met an actual Shaman in the US, so be wary of self-professed shamans in Sedona.  Just because someone takes a few classes from an actual Shaman and has a great tan and wears native garb, it does not make them a Shaman.

Number 2 – Spend your Money Wisely
As you tour the plethora of places and types of services, if the price seems ridiculously high for the service compared to what you would pay in your corner of the world, then you should question the ethics of the person providing that service. Shop around before you get to Sedona. A true spiritual practitioner who follows their heart and lives in love will not gouge their clients. They also don't scream at their clients to put them off-guard by intimidation, wear black capes, have fake tans making themselves look more native or charge thousands for a few hours of work, even the ones of national fame (famous author, lecturer, actor, etc.). Even my multi-day classes as I expand with invites for lectures and workshops in Europe are reasonable. Why? Because it is more about sharing the knowledge and planting the seed versus the money for a spiritualist.

Use your head, be cautious and aware. Your first gut instinct is usually correct. If they promise you the world or TELL you that you NEED to pay extra for this or that or something terrible will happen to you, then they aren't interested in your highest good, just filling their pockets with your dough so walk away.

If you're in town and some self-proclaimed guru says he can take you on a 2 hour spiritual tour for $300, but for an extra $200 he'll rid you of all your evil spirits, do some shamanistic ritual, etc., then run, don't walk the other way before emptying your wallet or handing over your credit card. The only thing he wants is to rid you of your CASH and you can certainly find someone else in town who will provide you with better service for a lot less.  Listen boys and girls its all about intention. I facilitate lectures and workshops, having a great deal of success in helping people understand the law of attraction and actually using it. And I can tell you that what you believe is what you create, so give those curses and "evil" spirits no power.

Here's another rule. If after the first 10 minutes of a service something doesn't feel right. GET UP and walk out! Yes you heard me WALK OUT! It takes guts to do so since we are brought up to be polite, but trust me, if you aren't feeling it, you're better off getting up. A good practitioner will want you to leave if you feel uncomfortable in any way and will show you the exit with love and perhaps even a hug and good wishes.  A charlatan on the other hand, doesn't want your wallet moving one little bit and will balk and complain.

Never pay for a service in advance, but if you do and don't think that you got your money's worth, then speak up. Most likely the business will reduce the cost or refund the money. If they don't, then complain loudly in the middle of the store. That usually works wonders.

w can you determine who is a good psychic?
Number 3 – Free Videos
I was tired of witnessing the scam portrayed on tourists, so I recorded and posted over 35 videos about Sedona on my YouTube channel that show how to enjoy this spiritual mecca. I gathered so much material that I'm putting it into an upcoming Travel Guide on how to travel to this spiritual land and not break your pocket book while you see things only a handful of locals are aware of. And no, it won't break your piggy bank to purchase it either.

Number 4 - Guide to Good Sedona Psychics and Readers and Channels
As I said, there are some talented people, like me, living in Sedona,  people who have certification in counseling or Reiki Masters, like myself, who also happen to channel. If you are looking for a reading, do your homework and follow some simple rules:
  • Know what you wish to gain from the experience. This will assist in managing your expectations.
  • Get a personal recommendation. Speak to a friend or someone who knows someone who has used this practitioner.
  • Do complete research on the person. Reading online reviews is okay, but they are not always a good judge. If you do, then look the closest at the negative ones and see if you can reach out to that negative reviewer. Look closely at where the review comes from. If a positive review about the practitioner comes from within or near Sedona and immediately follows a negative review from outside the area, this could be just smoke and mirrors to fool the boards and trip advisor and make you think that the practitioner is better than they really are. I know of someone in particular who has been a “psychic” in this one establishment for almost 20 years and she was the worst reader I have ever seen. When II looked her up on the boards I would see these horrific reviews followed immediately by fantastic ones. I looked closer to discover that the fantastic review was always from a local.
  • Make an appointment ahead of time to ensure that you get to visit with the person you want and are not pushed to someone else whom you have not researched.
  • Find out exactly what you are getting for your money
  • Trust your gut and ask your heart when deciding on who to use.
  • Shop around and compare prices before you get to town. Just because the building is large and located on a busy road lit does not mean that there are great practitioners there.
  • If the person you want charges more, get an explanation from them about what is different about their service that warrants the increased price.
I hope this helps as you discern the services that are best for you.

Blessings,
LeeZa Donatella

Is it better to Follow Your Passion or the Dollar

I was listening to a friend as she ways her options on the next direction in her life. As of late, most of the time from one day to the next, I have no idea what I will be doing, where I will be going and who I will be helping. That is little consolation when speaking to someone who is set in their ways, has lived in the same place for many years or has been in the same job.

I took that leap of faith off that cliff in February 2013 when I left the corporate world behind, along with that cushy 6 figure income to follow my passion of writing and devoting my life to helping others. It was not an easy decision and I have given up a lot in order to do it, including the comforts that my prior life afforded me.

So was walking away from a lucrative successful career as I walk the path of enlightenment worth it? Am I happier? You bet ya! I am also thinner, look younger (much younger than I did 2 years ago), and I am healthier, coming off the handful of medications my old stressful live included. Amazing what following your passion does for you!

I have learned that greatness is not measured by that prestigious job, what you own, where you live or drive or the label in the clothes you wear. It is measured by the love in your heart that you share with others when you follow your passion.

Wishing you a day filled with blessings and love,

Bashar Visits Sedona

Today’s article is about Bashar. Some of you may know about Bashar and some of you may be asking me, LeeZa, who is this Bashar person?  Well, in fact, Bashar is not a person at all, well at least not of this world. I know that may throw-off some of you, but read on and I will explain more about Bashar and my view of him. As a seeker of truth and increased consciousness and spiritualism I too was skeptical when I heard about messages being channeled from an alien being in a ship thousands of miles above Sedona, AZ, but living in Sedona, I was curious enough to find out more about Bashar. Here is what I discovered.

About Bashar and His Message
About 30 years ago, a man, named Daryyl Anka started channeling this extraterrestrial being who called himself Bashar.  The man, Daryyl, allows himself to be the channel to groups of people in different locations and Bashar’s messages are centered on creativity, joy, abundance, health, clarity, self-esteem and self-love, the release of fear and those negative patterns that keep us from moving forward.

As we learn how to connect with our higher selves and follow our passion and joy, we release the beliefs that are not for our highest good. I believe that listening to Bashar is a good tool or adjunct to what you are doing today to help you on your path toward enlightenment..

I am not sure what I believe regarding the validity of Bashar, but it doesn't much matter to me. His messages are positive, good and sound and have helped me move forward and release deep seeded patterns formed in my youth. Perhaps they will help you as well.

Videos
Although it was a highlight for me having the chance to see him in person, you don't have to attend a seminar to hear Bashar's messages, There are hundreds of Bashar videos posted all over YouTube that you can view. Below are the videos I shot and posted when I saw Bashar in Sedona in April 2013, including a Bashar meditation. Some are just the recordings, since the cinematographer (me) had a shaky hand and it made me sea-sick watching them.

Wishing you a day filled with happy viewing.

Regain the Playfulness

As I sit here and ponder today’s post I am reminded what it feels like to have writers block. This is not a common occurrence for me, since I am continually spewing about this and that. Then I look outside to see the baby goats at a friend’s ranch jumping and playing. Their names are Holmes and Watson. They are about 8 weeks old and are the cutest little beings you have ever seen.  Their namesakes would be proud at these small caprines investigate everything in their expansive living area. I have often been found back with them as they jump on my lap for pets and scratches. They have adopted me as one of their sparring partners trying out the little stubs that will eventually become large horns. They wag their little tails as they put their heads down and push it against my closed fist. I chuckle as I pretend that they can push me back and tell them how strong they are.  They are quite the dynamic duo.

Below are Holmes and Watson in action, playing King of the stump at the ranch:

They remind me that there is a time for work and a time for play. And when I speak about play, I mean that playfulness that we had as little ones. Regaining that as an adult may not be easy, but for those of us who never quite grew up, well, it is not hard to get into that mindset. And it is that mindset that keeps us young and allows us to see the wonder the world has put right in front of our eyes.

Find your Inner Love and Share It

Every day is filled with Sunshine when you find the love within. I am often reminded that even on the cloudiest day, my day is full of sun, shining bright.

It’s not because I have a pocket full of cash or a partner that caters to my every whim. Although that would be nice, it would be meaningless without knowing that I am made of pure love and celebrating that inner love with all that I meet each day.

What were the words of that song? “Let your love flow, like a mountain stream?”

Find your inner love and share it. If you are having trouble loving yourself, just as you are now, then write a list of your good qualities and work on sharing those with others. Volunteer at your local church, charity or help a friend move, clean up their garage or say hello to every one you see on the street or in your local grocery store. By doing that, your inner love will grow and you will begin to shine. You WILL have an effect on all you meet and increase not only your own LOVE vibration, but the vibrations of others.

Wishing you a day filled with love and blessings,

LeeZa Donatella

Happy St Patrick's Day 2014

As you celebrate this day representing the patron saint of Ireland, I want to remind you to think about St. Patrick. His faith strong, this man of humble means shared teachings about God with the masses in Ireland, using a shamrock to explain the concept of the Trinity; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Whether your heritage is Irish, Italian, German or Swede, Chinese, Japanese or Pekinese, you’ll wear the green and drink the beer as you toast with old and new friends alike.

As you celebrate, please don’t forget, to toast St Patrick, the saint who made this day possible.

And please drink responsibly!

Wishing you a day filled with love, blessings and green beer,

March Birthdays

First I want to wish a very happy birthday to every Pisces.  I was once told that Pisces is the most difficult sign in the zodiac and that it’s reserved for advanced souls, ergo the amount and difficulty of their homework in the form of life challenges is greater. I feel fortunate to be part of such an elite group, but there is so much more. Pisces are intuitive, generous, kind, loving and creative. They have the deepest hearts that they are not afraid to share, sometimes to their own detriment.

I am fortunate to know many Pisces sisters that share my birthday month and want to extend my love to Jesaca, Mesha, Michele, and Lizzie.

As I look back on the past year, my life has gone in a new direction as I dare to dream of a life more aligned to my spiritual path. It has freed me up to experiences that have been for my highest good. Not that all these experiences have involved pleasant situations, but in order to help others, you need to be able to relate to their situation. How better to relate than to share similar experiences with them. The difference is not owning any pleasant or unpleasant situation but viewing them all as part of the experience. It’s so easy to get caught up and create drama when you do not have to. Instead I focus on the present and look forward to each delicious moment. I follow my passion and find the opportunities each day where I can help others. When I do that, the universe shows me how wonderful life on this third planet from our sun can be. These days I am more cognizant and grateful of the generosity of others. It’s that greeting and smile that I share with everyone I meet; it’s the new discoveries of life’s pleasures in small things that makes a difference in my every day. I may not know how I will pay this bill or that or where I may lay my head as I travel on my spiritual path, but I am happier than I have ever been and I am grateful to all those I meet that I can assist or who assist me.

Perhaps this is the best birthday ever!

Wishing you a day filled with love and birthday blessings,

LeeZa Donatella

Friday

We are the Musicians

As I watched the sun melt behind the mountain last evening, I sighed, thinking of the day. It reminded me that the music is constantly being created and that we are the musicians, orchestrating that song, that magic, being taught and guided from above. What blessings in just the last week; kindness, and generosity and fortuitous pleasures as I was reunited with old friends. The opportunities abound for us when we go with the flow.

Sometimes I have no idea what I'm doing and where I am going, but I am more excited than I am nervous. That, my friends, is the sign that you are at the forefront of great transformation, when we release our fate to the universe and allow the song that is our heart's connection to the divine to be played. It is a symphony of love within all of us that is the greatest of opportunities for positive spiritual growth.

Do I know where I'm going to be a week in advance? No. Now, that may unnerve some of you, but I've learned that if you want to make God laugh, just tell him your plans. So I shrug my shoulders, chuckle and allow the universe to guide me and put me in contact with the right people at the right time, knowing that it is all for my highest good and what is for my best spiritual growth.

So, don’t fret or get stressed out when not everything goes the way you think it should, but take a few moments to breathe and know that the universe has a better idea of where you are supposed to be and what you are supposed to be doing. It’s all good.

Wishing you a day filled with love and blessings,

Everyday is a Opportunity to Make Someone's Day

Did you know that everyday is an opportunity to make someone's day? It's all about your outlook. You may be laughing as you read this thinking, is LeeZa crazy thinking that my trip to the Verizon store when I have only twenty minutes before I have to pick up the kids from soccer practice is any kind of an opportunity? Yes, EACH place that you are guided to as part of your journey and an opportunity to lift up someone else, including that impromptu trip to the Verizon store as you finally get to that little glitch with your smart phone or change of plan that you've been putting off.  It happened to me today when I was driving down to Phoenix and realized I had some time. And time is what I needed as I was told I was fifth in line as I awaited a consult about my phone and plan in the busy stored filled with customers perusing the newest technology.

Sunday

Competing with the Joneses?

Ah the Joneses, you know them; actually everyone knows them as we run out and purchase this new gadget, a more expensive car, etc, just to keep up with them. But did you know that the phrase came from a popular early 1900’s comic strip and we have used this phrase as a benchmark for our perceived socio-economic status ever since. Perhaps you were taught that you need to compete with everyone else, friends, family and neighbor alike as you continually compare your material possessions of those of others as the determination of yours and everyone else's net worth?

Saturday

Can You Go Back Again?

As I stepped foot back in Sedona, it seemed that although the buildings and roads were the same, something was different. I entered my staple’s Nick’s for the eggs-childa; took the road up to the stupa and prayed as I circled and brought myself back to union with this magical city. I smiled as I breathed in the mountain air in my secret spot that connects me to three vortices.

Everything seemed the same as I had left it four months ago, yet there was definitely something different. Then finally it dawned on me. It was me who was different. I am stronger, more liberated, more conscious and definitely more tanned since I last stepped foot into the charming establishments that make this place so special. And with that maturity, like a student moving grades after the summer breaks, our levels increase and our needs change.

Friday

Reputation and Character

Oh, my gosh, have I heard about ‘you are your reputation’ more times than I can shake a stick.
For centuries people lived and died by their reputation. People get caught up in their reputation and what they do for a living, wearing it proudly like a shiny badge displayed on their chest for all to see and admire: I am a VP of this or that or I have worked with this person or that person.  I will admit to being one of those people as I wore my VP title like a badge as well, polishing it up when I wanted to impress or put someone off.  Darlings, reputation means nothing if you don't have the character to back it up. Today, I have discarded that badge and replaced it with nothing more than my character and the love in my heart that I share with others.

Life's Pleasures Await You!

I never liked the saying 'oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive,' always thinking of a hairy spider spinning its thick web, so I changed it to, ‘Oh what a pleasant life indeed when we dare to dream and we believe!’

My rewrite became a reality again yesterday as I was once again shown the pleasures of life upon my return from three months in Mexico. I find myself for a couple of days in LA, visiting Tone, a producer for reality TV.  I happened to get lost on the way back to my hotel, but took it in stride.  I drove past this incredible establishment, an upscale Beverly Hills restaurant on Wilshire, called Bazaar by José Andrés, and something told me to turn around. My car practically steered itself around the block making its way back to the valet station.

It was then that the universe provided me with the deliciousness of life when we engage in what gives us joy each moment and connect with people for the highest good of all. When I experience something incredible I often joke saying, ‘the only thing better would be kicking back in jeans enjoying a beer with Clooney as we fish by the arch.’  Well George, even hanging with you would pale in comparison to this experience.  I sat at one of their culinary bars where I watched the chef orchestrate tapas like no other, adorning them with several of the many eatable accruements that lay on the 20 foot table before me.  I was overwhelmed with appreciation for the staff’s professionalism, talent and courteousness as they educated me on the different tastes on their menu, guiding me through my first nitrogen infusion experience. ‘These creations would surprise and delight even the most discerning and cultured palette,’ I thought, as the gastronomic delicacies tantalized my tongue, their flavors popping as they combined in my mouth. I sighed in true orgasmic fashion, savoring each mini masterpiece.

To make a great evening even better, I had the pleasure of exchanging spiritual ideas with a fellow New York businesswoman who sat next to me.  It is nights like this where I am reminded of the corporate VP life that I left behind. But this foodie sacrificed nothing as I was literally provided with life's great tastes and magically, most of them ended up to be gratis.

Follow your passion and do what you love. Live your life filled with abundance, no matter how much money you have, or don’t have. Remember that the universe showers you with indescribable pleasures when you let your love shine and share that love with everyone you meet.

Wishing you a day filled with love and blessings,

LeeZa Donatella

Everything in Life Changes (Annica)

Funny about making plans. No matter what I do, when I try and make plans it seems that the universe has something different in store for me. Most people would be jumping out of their skin at such uncertainly, but I have learned to take it in stride and I glide from one place to the next treated as if I were walking on clouds. Yes, I said clouds, since it seems that I am so truly blessed by the kindness of strangers and new friends. Many thanks to all the people in and visiting San Jose del Cabo that I have had the fortunate pleasure of spending time with. It has been my honor to get to know you and I wish you all well.
