How to Connect to your Higher Self

As promised to the many of you who have emailed me asking about connections to the higher self, today I will explain higher self connections or what some call the connection to our total spirit.

What is the higher self?
This has always been such an interesting topic for me and I love to share what I know with all of you. If you've found this article then you already know that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Well, our spirit or energy or whatever name you have for it is pure love. And Love energy has the highest vibration. Frankly, if we were to bring more than a small bit of it into the human form, our bodies would explode because the vibration is just too high. So we have a piece of our essence in our physical body and the majority of it outside the body. This is what we connect to when we connect to what's called the "higher self."

Why aren’t we always connected to the higher self?
Now there is the question, because if we were always connected, it would be Heaven on Earth indeed. I won't say that a person cannot achieve a 24/7 100% connection at some point in their time here on Earth, but when we can connect 100% of the time, we probably would not still be here on Earth. So maybe the Christ or the Buddha was able to do this.  It's certainly something worth striving for. Even if you connect to your higher self 40% of each day, that is greater than 99% of the population.  Imagine feeling complete bliss 40% of each day. Wow!

So how do I connect with my Higher Self?
There is not just one way to connect. The most common way for the people I have coached over the years is to first get into a meditative state. If you are new to meditation there are many guided meditation CDs out there and one day soon I will be offering one for you all as well. Pick one that is about 15-20 minutes long that asks you to ground yourself as part of the meditation. At the beginning of the meditation make your intention known that you want to connect to your higher self. As you get grounded and open up your crown chakra you will begin to feel the connection.

How does it feel when you are connected?
When our inner energy source connects to the universal energy source, it's a feeling of complete bliss and calm where all is peace and love.  I get a delicious tingling wave that overtakes my body when I'm in that place where I am connected with my higher self. What a rush! I call this being “In the Zone.” You may also feel that sensation or you may just get the overwhelming feeling of peace and harmony that's always present.  Once practiced, you will find that you don’t need to perform a traditional meditation to connect. I can look upon a sunrise or sunset or landscape and appreciate how absolutely beautiful it is and presto I am instantly connected.

So what CAN you do when you are connected?

I often get this question about what we can do when we are connected. When you are connected you have profound clarity and insight. There was this movie called Limitless where someone used a drug to get this insight. That is not necessary, since you can get there on your own. During this state you can gain universal information or ask for anything just stating what it is that you want, know that it is possible for you to have it, and that you deserve what you are asking for.

Don't Feel Obligated to Do what you Don't Like

I know I have written about this in some shape or fashion before but feel that it's important to be blunt. I am originally from New York, after all. When I say that you should follow your passion and your joy, I really mean it. Today, if there is something that I am asked to do and I don't want to do it, I really don't do it. I walked away from a long term relationship where I was not happy as well as a very lucrative corporate position that provided me with no joy. And as I walked into the potential darkness of the unknown I knew one thing; that I would be shown the light. I smile as I write this knowing the joy I now experience; it's more wondrous than I could have ever imagined.

Today, I am tactfully honest about not doing anything that I dislike, No longer do I go to functions that I know I won't enjoy, sit on the couch watching that football game to appease someone else or spend time with people with whom I have nothing in common just to be polite. As far as involving myself in drama, well, let's just say "No Way Jose."  It just proves to be a torture that I am no longer willing to endure. I can easily find more enjoyable alternatives, like trimming my toenails.

Whoever said that life was sacrifice, didn't know what they were talking about.

So if you love spending time with your aunt Bessy but the thought of accepting an invitation to endure her homemade pot roast makes a small bit of bile move toward the back of your throat, instead ask her over your home or meet out for a special dinner to catch up. You'll surprise yourself how quickly your frown will be turned upside down as you do only what excites you and provides you with pleasure.

As I continually follow my passion I move a little bit closer toward enlightenment and am enjoying the deliciousness of life and the abundance that comes, What's not to love about that?

Sending you love and blessings this day and always, your personal eat pray love girl,

Sedona: A Guide to Spotting a Fake

Sedona is a beautiful place full of red rocks and crimson sunsets. You're never at a loss for something to do, the hiking is spectacular and you can find great places to meditate and food that will please every palette. It's chuck full of the most talented artists and musicians I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and is also a great place to regain your spiritual roots and increase your consciousness.  Having lived in Sedona, it has been a main backdrop in some of my books, because it's a place where strange and amazing events and transformations occur.
Sedona Psychics. Good Sedona Psychics. Find Sedona Psychics
As far as the practitioners, I get asked a lot about the validity of some of the practitioners in Sedona. These questions apply to all forms of spiritual modalities in a town where you can toss a stone and hit more people trying to sell you some spiritual this or that, from a reading, healing, channel, crystal or amulet.

I've tried many places and practitioners and have spoken to other spiritual minded people in the couple of years that I've lived in Sedona.  Now
I don't begrudge anyone from making a living, but from my experience, I can tell you that, like anything else in life, there are more talented people than others and that all people have good and bad days.
Find Sedona Psychic. Best Sedona Psychics
Good Sedona Psychics
Although I've met many talented Sedona psychics, channels, readers and teachers, unfortunately because Sedona is a place where people of love and light gather, it also attracts darkness in the form of unsavory characters. For every great practitioner there is a charlatan (male and female) in the shadows waiting to scam as many of the tens of thousands visitors each year that are searching for answers and healing that grace this town with their presence.

I've have also read the reviews on the boards, just like you, and some of them I agree with while others leave me scratching my head as I peruse incredible reviews for talentless scammers who seem to be permanent fixtures and are, in my opinion, the worst of the worst. I guess that's why they're still around, because they're great at what they do. No one said that scammers were lazy.

I was concerned for about a second that this article might anger some Sedona folk, but if they live in Love and Light and work for the highest good of their clients, then they know that I'm not talking about them.

Below is food for thought and tips on how to determine a fake as well as how to find a good Sedona spiritualist.

Determining if someone is a Fake in Sedona
Number 1 - Shamans
I've spent a lot of time in Central and South America with actual Shamans of several tribes.

Update (June 2014) I'm in the middle of Brazil. The experiences have thus far been amazing as I increase my awareness and vibration as I explain some of my supernatural experiences in the last 50 pages of my travel guide about visiting John of God. While there I visited many different towns, once again participating in Ayahuasca and healing ceremonies with native spiritualists, elders (Shamans) and great people who practice natural medicine.

But back to the point. I am a 5 time Reiki Master, work with energy, lecture and council people to help them awaken and move forward using all the tools at my disposal.  I have participated in Ayahuasca ceremonies with South American tribes and worked with Shamans while I was in the Peruvian Amazon jungle for 3 months in the 1990's, and while in Brazil for months at a time between 2003 and 2014. But just because I've spent a collective amount of years in my lifetime working with Shamans, learning from them directly and have a great deal of knowledge and training in Shamanic practices and uses these in the services I offer my clients, I do not profess to be a Shaman.  Every Shaman I've met over the past 20+ years has been very humble as they follow their heart with their energy off the charts.
It's a life-long calling and something that is not taken lightly as they work with “dense, heavy and very strong energy.”  It's a talent that's not obtained from a series of homogenized classes in a schoolroom, you either come to this world with it or you don’t.  I've never met an actual Shaman in the US, so be wary of self-professed shamans in Sedona.  Just because someone takes a few classes from an actual Shaman and has a great tan and wears native garb, it does not make them a Shaman.

Number 2 – Spend your Money Wisely
As you tour the plethora of places and types of services, if the price seems ridiculously high for the service compared to what you would pay in your corner of the world, then you should question the ethics of the person providing that service. Shop around before you get to Sedona. A true spiritual practitioner who follows their heart and lives in love will not gouge their clients. They also don't scream at their clients to put them off-guard by intimidation, wear black capes, have fake tans making themselves look more native or charge thousands for a few hours of work, even the ones of national fame (famous author, lecturer, actor, etc.). Even my multi-day classes as I expand with invites for lectures and workshops in Europe are reasonable. Why? Because it is more about sharing the knowledge and planting the seed versus the money for a spiritualist.

Use your head, be cautious and aware. Your first gut instinct is usually correct. If they promise you the world or TELL you that you NEED to pay extra for this or that or something terrible will happen to you, then they aren't interested in your highest good, just filling their pockets with your dough so walk away.

If you're in town and some self-proclaimed guru says he can take you on a 2 hour spiritual tour for $300, but for an extra $200 he'll rid you of all your evil spirits, do some shamanistic ritual, etc., then run, don't walk the other way before emptying your wallet or handing over your credit card. The only thing he wants is to rid you of your CASH and you can certainly find someone else in town who will provide you with better service for a lot less.  Listen boys and girls its all about intention. I facilitate lectures and workshops, having a great deal of success in helping people understand the law of attraction and actually using it. And I can tell you that what you believe is what you create, so give those curses and "evil" spirits no power.

Here's another rule. If after the first 10 minutes of a service something doesn't feel right. GET UP and walk out! Yes you heard me WALK OUT! It takes guts to do so since we are brought up to be polite, but trust me, if you aren't feeling it, you're better off getting up. A good practitioner will want you to leave if you feel uncomfortable in any way and will show you the exit with love and perhaps even a hug and good wishes.  A charlatan on the other hand, doesn't want your wallet moving one little bit and will balk and complain.

Never pay for a service in advance, but if you do and don't think that you got your money's worth, then speak up. Most likely the business will reduce the cost or refund the money. If they don't, then complain loudly in the middle of the store. That usually works wonders.

w can you determine who is a good psychic?
Number 3 – Free Videos
I was tired of witnessing the scam portrayed on tourists, so I recorded and posted over 35 videos about Sedona on my YouTube channel that show how to enjoy this spiritual mecca. I gathered so much material that I'm putting it into an upcoming Travel Guide on how to travel to this spiritual land and not break your pocket book while you see things only a handful of locals are aware of. And no, it won't break your piggy bank to purchase it either.

Number 4 - Guide to Good Sedona Psychics and Readers and Channels
As I said, there are some talented people, like me, living in Sedona,  people who have certification in counseling or Reiki Masters, like myself, who also happen to channel. If you are looking for a reading, do your homework and follow some simple rules:
  • Know what you wish to gain from the experience. This will assist in managing your expectations.
  • Get a personal recommendation. Speak to a friend or someone who knows someone who has used this practitioner.
  • Do complete research on the person. Reading online reviews is okay, but they are not always a good judge. If you do, then look the closest at the negative ones and see if you can reach out to that negative reviewer. Look closely at where the review comes from. If a positive review about the practitioner comes from within or near Sedona and immediately follows a negative review from outside the area, this could be just smoke and mirrors to fool the boards and trip advisor and make you think that the practitioner is better than they really are. I know of someone in particular who has been a “psychic” in this one establishment for almost 20 years and she was the worst reader I have ever seen. When II looked her up on the boards I would see these horrific reviews followed immediately by fantastic ones. I looked closer to discover that the fantastic review was always from a local.
  • Make an appointment ahead of time to ensure that you get to visit with the person you want and are not pushed to someone else whom you have not researched.
  • Find out exactly what you are getting for your money
  • Trust your gut and ask your heart when deciding on who to use.
  • Shop around and compare prices before you get to town. Just because the building is large and located on a busy road lit does not mean that there are great practitioners there.
  • If the person you want charges more, get an explanation from them about what is different about their service that warrants the increased price.
I hope this helps as you discern the services that are best for you.

Blessings,
LeeZa Donatella

Meditation, the Art of Being Present

If I had a nickel for every type of meditation technique out there then I could be rich. So, who’s technique is better that another?

Answer: They all have their merits, so if you have found one that resonates with you, then I am truly pleased for you/ Keep it up! It's when we quiet the mind that we hear the guidance. Where the guidance comes from, well I think I’ll leave that for another posting. Now back to meditation……..

Having spent time in the technology arena balancing high dollar projects, I can tell you that this 'Type A' desperately needed an outlet, a way to be calm. When I found meditation, I also found sleep, patience, peace and more creativity then I knew what to do with. It actually made my then corporate job easier to manage.

I believe that meditation takes many forms. Yes, it’s sitting still in a lotus position as we quiet the mind, but it’s also sitting in the park appreciating the ambrosiac sound of the songbird; it’s the long sigh as you stand there watching the sun fade from view; it’s losing yourself in a moment so delicious words do not do it justice, for they are all opportunities to become quiet and focusing on the present.

Find time, even if it's 5 minutes a day to lose yourself, be still, appreciate and be present.
Your mind, body and everyone around you will thank you for it!

Wishing you Love this day and always,

Vibration and Balance - An Introduction to the Chakras

The Chakras are energy centers. They're keys to our vibrational health. The body has hundreds of Chakras, but there are seven main Chakras that run from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Below is a summary of each Chakra.

1st:  Root Chakra - Survival
  • Location: Base of the spine.
  • Color: Red
  • Significance:  It's where we ground. It represents our base needs for survival, like food, water and shelter and financial security and how we see ourselves in the world.
  • Conflicts: People who are worried about their base needs may have blockages in the root chakra that can manifest in a physical way, like Fibromyalgia, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, Krone’s disease and other colon issues . Afraid of trying because of fear of financial loss against your financial security to move forward can manifest into problems in the lower extremities and feet.

2nd: Sacral Chakra - Creativity, Relationships and Sexuality
  • Location:  Just below the navel
  • Color: Orange
  • Significance:   represents the birthplace of creativity,  the relationship you have with your parents, family friends, and sexual relationships. It also represents the relationship you have with yourself as an adult and your connection to your inner child
  • Conflicts: People who have issues in their relationships may have blockages in the sacral chakra that can manifest in a physical way in the uterus (woman), prostrate (man), bladder, and certain kidney ailments. It is the center for rebirth, transformation of the inner child as they emerge from their cocoon, in all their beauty. I feel that the greatest growth potential comes from this chakra because it is when you look at yourself honestly and ask your inner child what it wants  That is where true growth is possible.

3rd: Solar Plexus Chakra - Strength and Power
  • Location:  Solar Plexus.
  • Color: Yellow
  • Significance:   center for power and strength and the place where we make things happen.
  • Conflicts: People who have self-esteem issues or feelings of powerlessness may experience problems with their stomach, liver, pancreas.

4th: Heart Chakra - Give and Receive Love
  • Location:  Heart
  • Color: green (or pink)
  • Significance:   The place where we give and receive unconditional love. The front of the heart is where we give love and the back of the heart represents our ability to received love.
  • Conflicts: Feelings of unworthiness may block the back of the heart chakra. A guarded individual may have a brick wall built shielding the front of the heart chakra. Suffering from a broken heart after a breakup or loss of a loved one can block the entire heart chakra

5th: Throat Chakra - Communication and Creative Clarty
  • Location:  Throat
  • Color:  blue or turquoise
  • Significance:  The place for all forms of clear creative expression and communication. Writers, artists, lectures, teachers, all have beautiful open throat chakras.
  • Conflicts: When we hold back the truth to ourselves and others, we may manifest issues in our throats.

6th: 3rd Eye Chakra- Inner and Outer Sight
  • Location:  Between the eye brows
  • Color: Indigo
  • Significance:   It's called our third eye and is the gateway between the conscious and unconscious connections through the pineal gland. It is intuition and perception.
  • Conflicts: Issues in the 5 senses, sinus and ear issues are all physical manifestations of blockages of the third eye.

7th: Crown Chakra - Higher Connections
  • Location:  Top of the head
  • Color: violet or white.
  • Significance:   It's the place of where we connect to all the knowledge/energy of the universe
  • Conflicts: Blockages in the crown chakra may manifest as headaches, and Alzheimer’s.
When the body’s energy is in balance, the energy flows easily, without obstruction, like a beautiful stream. When your energy is blocked, a dam keeps the current from flowing smoothly. Many things can cause blockages.

We attract what we vibrate and emotions are just energy in motion, vibrating out to the world. So when you live in negative emotions, like fear, worry, anger, jealousy, envy, etc.these are the situations you attract. Living in joy, brings you the most amazing experiences.

One way to make a start is to turn off your TV and not participate in the constantly negative news and distraction. At least to the best of your abilities. When you do then you're moving in the right place in your heart and mind and on the path to a higher vibration (Joy, Peace, Unconditional Self Love).

Blessings and have a day filled with Love,

LeeZa Donatella

Your Name has a Vibration

When you move to Sedona you meet the most interesting people. Some have adopted a spirit or soul name derived from some ancient source that embodies the essence of their true self, like White Dove, Harmony, etc.  I am continually fascinated by the resonance of these wonderful people's vibrations personified by the spirit or soul names they have chosen.

We all vibrate at a certain soul frequency made of particles of pure light.  I discovered that we have a soul name that we can channel through meditation from our higher guides.

These names combined with our given name alter and enhance our soul vibration to bring certain qualities into our lives here on Earth.
I was recently asked what name I would choose for myself that characterizes my essence.  Friends provided some suggestions, but through a synchronistic mistake in an IM I found one that resonates with my true self or what I aspire to as a being for my remaining time here on this planet.
My combined name LeeZa Donatella means the fulfillment of God's vow or promise. Since I believe that my purpose here is to help raise the vibration of the people I interact with to help them embody the pure love that is inside them I think it fits. I also and referred to in Sedona as Shakti Ma, the goddess of divine feminine creative power who actively manifests through female embodiment and creativity,  the agent of all change who has dependence on no one, but is interdependent with the entire universe.
As I write this the corners of my mouth curl into a huge smile as my spiritual name envelopes into my being and settles into my heart.
Be well all and have a day filled with Love,

How to raise your consciousness in 2013

I am often asked about the raising of one's consciousness. Here are a few first words on the topic that may serve you well.

With the shift to the new frequencies in late 2012, energies are shifting and vibrating at a"higher" frequency and we need to shift with them. Like most things in the universe there is the easy way and the hard way of doing things.  If you do not go with the flow, the universe will drag you forward kicking and screaming.  And yes I know this from experieince.
So, what can you do to raise your consciousness right now? A quick hit and great first start for raising your consciousness is to find a quiet place, close your eyes, breathe and be present. The idea here is to leave behind that which is not positive and aligns with your true self. Think of your true self as all that is positive. If an idea pops into your head know that it is your ego distracting you. Acknowledge the interference with something like “ ok, darling I hear you” or “ Not now, please”  and get back to the quiet. Even if at first you can only do this for five minutes without being distracted, that is fine. Ultimately, if would be great if you could do this for 20 minutes twice daily. Just starting with this exercise will help you start your shift in vibrational alignment to your true higher self and help with alignments to the new energies present in 2013.
For the long term in order to continue the shift and raise your consciousness and vibrational frequency, you may need to look within to determine what long term programmed beliefs, thoughts, and habits that you are holding onto that do not align to your true higher self, the divine within you. This sounds easy but is not since it makes us drop the masks we wear and look at ourselves which can be painful. Here is a very simplified way of looking at it. It is time to clean out your refrigerator and throw away all the items with past due dates.  The refrigerator is your divine self.  The divine self is pure love, joy, compassion and bliss.  If there are any other beliefs, thoughts, and habits you have about yourself or others that are not one of these items of the divine self,  like fear, worry, anger, resentment, etc. then they need to be identified, understood, owned, blessed and released. Releasing from the physical body can manifest in many ways including tears and other forms of expulsion, but I will save those details for the upcoming post about transformation.
Just know that as you release you make room for the divine self to enter your being.
Have a day filled with Love,

What is an Orb? Video

I recently received a phone call and was asked about orbs.  Apparently there were dozens of orbs floating near a young child and there was some concern. Should I be afraid of them, are they good and does size or color matter.  Click here to see You Tube Video

I can tell what I believe to be true about orbs in the hope it will help clear up some confusion.
I believe that an orb is intelligent energy in a form others than ours that can manifest aitself s a pinpoint of light or as a very large ball of light. Orbs in many colors have been witness, from clear to deep colors and translucent to opaque. Their shapre does not necessary have to be round, although those seem to be the most reported.
I believe that there can be many origins for these orbs including but not limited to a being that at one time lived on Earth in a physical form. I also believe that the being may have never lived on Earth in a physical form, like as one example, since I believe in Angels as Loving energy, then an orb could be a representation of that Loving energy. I like to think that they are here checking on us and helping guide us in our experiences here on Earth.
I think that there are many possibilities all of which are good ones.  I have never gotten the sense that an orb has an energy contrasting to the positive.
I hope this helps those of you who have this question.

Experiencing the Divine Self

Words barely scratch the surface to describe the state of bliss, joy and love experienced when you fully connect to your Divine Self.

My posts are usually a little lighter, but I write today about a recent personal experience that may be a little weighty for some.  As I walk the path to increase my own vibration here in Sedona,  like most of us, I continue to process and release old beliefs, habits and thoughts that no longer serve me. By doing so I am able to lighten up and make room for my Higher Divine Self to enter.

I often catch glimpses of my Divine Self through moments of connection and the feeling is scrumptious and delectable.

I have recently perceived Bliss, Joy and Love lasting for hours on end.    Below is the series of events that transpired to open me to this indescribable experience.

Through the help of a fellow healer I was able to free a blockage and fully open the back of my heart chakra. It is thought that the back of the heart chakra is the place where we receive Love. Through a ton of processing and releasing, with all chakras now wide open I then focused my intentions and asked my Higher Divine Self to enter my physical being. . I chuckle as the words "be careful what you ask for" come to mind.

I was open, baby and receptive to its presence. Shortly thereafter I was at an event, standing next to a table, when a unnamed friend full of grace and love came over to greet me. They gently touched the upper middle of my back, right over my now fully opened Heart Chakra and with this innocent gesture something happened that I had never felt before. Unlike the Kundalini experiences I have had in past, this flood of extreme bliss, joy and love poured evenly and simultaneously into all my chakras, like a flash flood that soon saturated and bathed every cell in my being from my head to my feet.  I could feel each atom in each cell move along with the pulsating flow of blood coursing through my veins. I held my breathe for a moment as I stood there and white-knuckled the tables edge, my grip so strong that I thought a piece of the table might break off in my hand. Barely cognizant, I looked around to see if my feeble attempt at some semblance of composure did not give away what was actually happening. The half a minute or so that it took me to regain some composure seemed like an eternity. And the incredible feeling, well, that stayed with me for several hours.

As I walked around enveloped in this astounding feeling, the people I encountered sensing my bliss smiled from its song. I sigh as I tell you that it is one thing to read or study something, but very different to experience its full intensity.

The next day after breakfast I meditated and found myself pining for that feeling I had experienced just the day before. What exactly was that? Although the unnamed friend who helped activate the experience may know, I was embarrassed to ask.  As most of us are, I am still processing and releasing beliefs about putting myself out there and sharing my most intimate details, although this blog I share with all of you has helped me shed some inhibitions and makes it much easier to free myself from the chains that bind. Perhaps I will, in short order, courageously confess to the unnamed facilitator that they were the catalyst for this amazing experience.

So how do I get this feeling back? It is like candy; you love the taste, so sweet and delicious and when the sugar rush goes away, you just want more. The difference is that this feeling does not cause a cavity, diabetes or like a drug has no ill effects, but it is just if not more addictive.

Questions like. "Do I need to continually be activated by someone else?"; "Can I turn it on again by myself?"  danced in my head while I spent a couple of days researching for  answers.   I found something that I could wrap my head around. I believe that the word is called Śaktipāta and it's the activation of one's Higher Divine Self facilitated by another. Ah, it has a name and it was me knowing more of my true self.

Would it be hard to get to this state again? The answer for me was no, for once I realized that it was me, my Higher Divine Self that I was feeling, just  being still and taking a moment to recall the feeling brings it back to me at full force, bathing me in bliss. Way Cool! I can achieve this state anytime I want!

I compare it to the first learned to ride a bicycle,  I had someone there who was more experienced to help me get going. Once I gained my balance I could pretty much ride the bicycle on my own.  The only difference here was that there were no training wheels and the unnamed facilitator of this activation was not aware that it was going to happen, nor did I have any idea that I would be riding a bike that day.

I believe that this activation occurred because I had all my chakras wide open and set the intention to bring my Higher Divine Self more into my physical body.  And experiencing this Bliss, Joy and Love of your Higher Divine Self is better than any Earthy experience.  So yes, it is better than sex or chocolate. And for those who know me, it would have to be really, really incredible for me to say that!

I have certainly had many less than pleasurable human experiences I call "opportunities for positive growth" that I would not wish upon any other, but this stupendously marvelous experience without question makes up for all of the crappy ones combined!

I send gratitude to the unnamed facilitator and the hope to all of you who have not already done so, that you experience this same type of bliss in this lifetime.

Have a day filled with love and deliciousness,

How do I Console

Someone you love has passed or you know someone who has lost someone. This is something we all experience in our lifetime, whether it be our parents, friends, spouses, or perhaps children. The initial shock, numbness, the pain that sometimes envelopes the core of your being, extended grief can be unbearable. This is a delicate topic and difficult for me to discuss. You give me a broken anything else and I am there to help, but for the most part in the past I have tended to shy away from people I know who have experienced loss, not because I am uncomfortable with death and dying, but have been uncomfortable with knowing a way to console when they are hurting in such a manner.

I would watch my mother provide words like "time heals all wounds" or "they are in heaven watching over you", " it takes two years to get over someone’s passing" to people after someone they loved left the Earth in physical form. None of these words ever resonated with me and I think perhaps did more harm than good when she said them. Mom stopped saying that to people after my father died, as I believed she felt that it no longer resonated as her truth.

As a more universal believer in life and consciousness, where life is a continuous cycle and there are agreements, is it better to say “this is the agreement that your souls made collectively for the experience before you came?”, or that there is a parallel universe where you are experiencing an extended lifetime together? How about life is an Illusion or a game? Perhaps I would get a little laugh if I explained that it is just a dream and we are like Neo in athe Matrix. All joking aside,  I am at a loss  for thosepearls of wisdom for consolation.

Regardless of whether your beliefs include a religion that teaches of heaven and hell, only 1 lifetime, God and self as separate OR life as the fluffy dream experience, OR life on a planet seeded by aliens, words are of little consolation to someone who is grieving.

The conclusion I have come up with was so simple and required a change in a belief I was holding. Perhaps the best way is to just be there for them, to listen, hold their hand and not say anything. Sometimes your presence and not words is all that’s needed to console. This holds true for any sort of loss.

So now I am present and I just shut up!
Have a day filled with Love,
