Thanksgiving is not about the turkey, the parade, pre-black Friday sales or whether they serve the kind of cranberry sauce you like.
As we remember the history of this day as communities celebrating and giving thanks for the harvest, let us also remember what we are thankful for in our lives right now as we spend the day with family and friends. Here are a couple of suggestions to get in that thankful spirit:
- Remove all remnants of work from your brain and be in the present
- Do something nice for a stranger, like opening a door, letting someone who has less items get in front of you in line or wishing a senior a great day.
- Make time to be childlike and see the wonder of the world
- Smile and laugh out loud
- Tell those in your life how much they mean to you
