Taking Charge of your Weekend

Some of us have a couple of days off from work per week.  Unfortunately, these "off days" are filled with more work, chores, errands and bills that fill in the time between daylight and dust. Then we pop home and either jump in the shower, get dressed and are off to yet another place for the evening or make dinner and crash on the couch falling into distraction in front of the TV.

So where is the "off" in our days off?

There doesn't seem to be any and with no real days off, we deprive our body and mind of what it desperately needs, time to relax and recharge. When we get that chance we are clear, live in the present and more fully connected to our environment. This is only accomplished when we can find time alone with no distractions and find the quiet. It's when we turn off everything; our PC, TV, cell phone, our Kindle and our mind as we breathe in the calm and exhale the stress. And when we are quiet and at peace our heartbeats slows and blood drenches and rejuvenates our cells and balances our hormones.

When I see someone who doesn't know how to wind down, I want to remind them of the saying, "Take time to smell the roses." I always save time each day to be by myself, even for a little while, as I reflect and reconnect and am amazed how quickly I can return to total bliss, a space of peace, unconditional love, joy and compassion.

So, for the love of all that is good for you, find some precious time to relax, de-stress and be at peace as you allow your mind to become calm and serene and focus on the present. Your body, mind and soul will be delighted by the change.

Wishing you a day of peace,

About Faith

Today I want to talk about faith. Some people believe that faith is solely reserved when speaking about religion. Although it's true that faith and religion go hand in hand, faith is bigger than all religions. Now, I don't want any of you to think I am disrespecting religion, because I'm not. It's just that faith is a knowing of a certain outcome with no proof and that's regardless of your religious beliefs.

So, what does that mean?

Okay. so for the religious it's a belief in God, without having laid eyes on the Almighty. But for those who are not religious, it's that gut feeling when things are not going well that everything will workout. You don't have to be religious to have faith, just complete trust in a positive outcome.

Now that I've said that, there's also the other side of that coin. You can truly believe that a situation may have an unpleasant outcome and it is that belief that will shift that outcome as well.

Are you with me yet?

No? Okay, so here's an example. I was watching one of the episodes of Project Runway while visiting a friend for the weekend who was hooked on that show.  One of the designers was having a fit because the models were eating while they dressed. He was obsessed with the possibility that one of them was going to spill food on one of his new creations; I mean he went on and on about it for several minutes in this episode. Are you surprised that indeed, one of them stained his most delicate fabric dress? I wasn't.

Our beliefs guide our faith and they are incredibly powerful.  With great faith anything can happen and on the positive side, I've seen people who have such faith that they can move mountains.

Wishing you a day filled with great faith in a better tomorrow,

Happy Thanksgiving 2014

Thanksgiving...  it's is not about the turkey, the parade, pre-black Friday sales or whether they serve the kind of cranberry sauce you like.

As we remember the history of this day as communities celebrated and gave thanks for the harvest, let us also remember what we are thankful for in our lives right now as we spend the day with our family and friends.

Remove all remnants of work from your brain and play with your children, hug your parents, kiss your sweetie, smile and laugh and tell those in your life how much they mean to you.

Wishing you a Thanksgiving full of joy,

LAUGHING IN THE FACE OF CANCER - One Woman's Fight

Today I reach out to you with a story of hope and prayer.

Named after archangel Michael, my long time friend of over 30 years is strong, a fighter, with a heart full of love, an offbeat sense of humor and an amazing outlook on life.

Michaele’s life has not been easy. When we were teens, she was hit by a car and battled to regain the ability to walk.

She was first diagnosed with cancer (melanoma) a little over 5 years ago, within months of the passing of the father of her 3 children.

Unfortunately, we found out a couple of weeks ago that the cancer has returned, metastasizing as tumors in her brain and lungs.

Laughter is the Best Medicine

I've heard the saying that Laughter is the best medicine. I would like to take it a step further and say that laughter is God’s medicine. The reason I say that is because only God, the mack daddy of the universe would provide such great rewards for something so fundamental. It is as if God gave us an internal mechanism to help and heal us.

Did you know that laughter is a potent medication for stress and pain? There is no medication that works more quickly to balance your mind and your body than laughter. Laughter lightens you up and can turn despair into hope. So there is something to be said about laughter.
Ilm up very early and work in a high stress environment in my day job. The alarm is set for 6 am and I usually open my eyes way before it rings, laying there already thinking about my workday. And in the evening it is very difficult for me to turn it off.

Everyone has their own method for winding down the day. Some may pour themselves a couple of stiff drinks in order to shut down and distress.

I decided to try something new and think about things that make me laugh in the morning, before sipping my first cup of coffee and use this method throughout the day and through the evening. And you know what? As soon as I start to laugh, that instantly feel great!

Laughter actually does “something” inside your body. It increases blood flow to help rev up your body, lowers blood sugar levels, boosts your immune system, and assists in relaxation and sleep. Laughter also reduces the level of stress hormones in your body.

As I continue to laugh during the day I feel lighter in some way. The more I laugh, the better I feel and think I like this new mantra.

I have been with partners that were grumpy guys in the morning so I suggested that they try laughing as well.

Why not give it a try yourself!

Have a day filled with love and laughter,

Close your Eyes to See the Light

This statement is typically used metaphorically; "Sometimes you have to close your eyes and see the light," which means that when you look without your eyes, the answer comes.  It's a true statement that we get answers when we take time to reflect. Today, though, I'm referring to literally closing your eyes and seeing light.

For decades when I close my eyes in the evening to go to sleep, in about 5 minutes in the total darkness with eyes closed, I begin to see what I can only describe as golden light, brighter than the sun. I asked my mother and she would just tell me to concentrate on a black piece of paper to go to sleep. That helped a bit but for years I was confused about the whole thing. I got used to it as it happened to me five nights out of seven. I dismissed it as the beginning of dreaming, but sometimes it would wake me up, just as I had settled down. At other times I would catch myself, saying “way cool” as I would start to see it when in a state of calm and bliss with heightened senses.

'What the heck is this? Am I dreaming about sunshine?'

Years later, I would ask my partners. “Do you see sunshine when you close your eyes?” They just shot me a look and would say something like "No, that's not normal."

It wasn't until
early December 2012 when I was attending a Christ Consciousness class where the minister asked if anyone see bright light when they close their eyes in a dark room. My eyes widen as I finally knew that I was not alone. He explained that when we see bright glowing light in meditation, we are seeing Archangel Michael’s burning sword guarding the gates of Eden and if you enter those gates you in front of God.  That's certainly one way to look at it and no offense Archangel Michael, but I think you have better things to do then guard Eden from the likes of me.
I was close to a definition that perhaps I could wrap my head around.

Call it what you like,I do not judge; What I have come to understand is that when we see light when we close our eyes in total darkness that the light is our connection to the Divine, our higher divine self, our Source, God.

Why does this occur?
When we get more attuned in the physical body and our vibration and consciousness increases.

I'm sharing this with you today in the off chance that you too are experiencing this out of the ordinary.  If you are, then know that you're not alone and it's perhaps the beginning of your awakening.

Kindness, it's Universal

As you make your way throughout your day, take a moment to take a breath, slow down and notice all the people you are in contact with at work, while on the street, or in your car, at the store or on the phone.

Take the time to say something nice, thank them, smile their way, nod your head and say good day. Hold the door or let them pass, ask about their family or weekend plans.

Don't forget, that we're all human and you can make someone's day by what you do.

Love shared with our Earthly brothers and sisters and a smile goes a long way, because kindness is universal.

Have a day filled with love and friendship,

Office Stress - Coping

At a certain time each day, the frenzy begins as people are running around like chickens with no heads, not to holiday shop, but to complete tasks on a deadline.

6 people all reaching out to the same person for the same deliverable, upset because it was not turned around in an hour. It's this frantic energy that can be felt across the room or through the phone or computer chat window.

Let's take a moment to put things into perspective: NO ONE IS DYING HERE

This is not an emergency room, open heart surgery or  woman in labor. We're not rushing across the street to save someone from being hit by a car, nor are we trying to cure cancer. And there is certainly not a roaring house or forest fire.   It's someone in a corporate office with an imposed deadline. It's no wonder why our :flight" and "fight" response is out of whack when something as minor as a normal deadline has people jumping out of their skin.

For those on the receiving end, take a breath before turning to these folks and show them compassion. They obviously have no clue what is really important. Don't allow them to ruffle your feathers.

My advice to those allowing the stress get to them and beating down on others, take a moment and allow others the space and a little time to do their job.

Wishing you a stress free day

Don't be Afraid to Experience Life

We all come to Earth for experiences. And experiences are different from one person to the other; some are pleasant and others are unpleasant and we all get a collection of both kinds.

Funny, but yesterday’s posting was about the Matrix and the choice of taking the red or blue pill. I know that taking the red pill will provide the person who takes it with the awareness and knowledge they need in order to change their very reality.

I wish I could do a better job explaining that to others, especially those close to me, because it’s difficult when you tell people this, and they still choose the blue pill.

I know they say that you can lead a horse to water, but can't make him drink, but I'll never understand why do people still chose the blue pill, continuing to live a life of illusion and pain.

I think it's because of fear.

Don't be afraid to experience life, all of it, Take the red pill and have more delicious experiences that you could ever imagine.

Experiencing the Matrix

It's no wonder the movie 'The Matrix' did so well at the box office. That's because there are large chunks of that movie that provide a glimpse into a reality that is within our reach.

Like the movie, most people live in 2-by-2 illusion.  An example may be the best way to explain this. Have you ever met someone whose life revolves around the 2 miles by 2 miles that surround them, never really venturing out beyond their comfort zone?
I'm sure you have. Similar to being stuck inside a box, they are only exposed to limited experience as fear based emotions or belief systems keep them from expansion and knowing the possibilities outside the space they live in. They're content to continue taking the blue pill, living in their illusion.

Did you know that when we're born we have no limits?

We see everything, sense everything, know everything and experience everything.  Have you ever noticed small children looking so intently, then smiling and communicating to a spot in a room where there seems to be nothing? Do you really believe that there is nothing there just because you can't see what they're looking at?

Infants are unable to express the underlying knowledge that they have, due to their limited spoken language skills. That doesn't mean that babies are not intelligent. Quite the contrary; they are sponges and learn many times more rapidly than adults. According to research, an infant's brain produces 2-3 million synapses per second. There's a lot of development going on and cognitive abilities at that young age are truly remarkable.

Unfortunately by the time they are 5, they lose a lot of what keeps them seeing beyond the thin layer that I call the veil. For a lucky few they never lose that entire connection and vision. And most people who are open to the possibility that the veil exists, spend a good part of their adult life trying to reconnect.

If you are shaking your head as you read this, let me tell you a story that explains this perceptual blindness. As the European explorers neared the shores of new lands in their large ships, the natives on shore didn't see these large vessels that were in plain site. Why? Because their belief system kept them closed off to the possibility that these ships could exist. It wasn;t until one wise man who could see these vessels planted the seed that germinated, allowing the other natives to see.

When you believe that there is a possibility and take that step and take the red pill you become aware of the true nature of the Matrix where you have control over your reality.

Welcome to the new paradigm.

Determining What's Unacceptable in a Relationship

I received a call this evening from a young man in his twenties requesting advice regarding his current relationship. He has been dating what he described as a lovely young lady for a few months now, but was disheartened when she got as he described as “trashed” on Halloween and acted foolish. Frustrated by this incident he wanted to talk about it.  This is what I advised:

With some relationships at times our partners do things that make us feel uncomfortable, frustrated or downright angry.

But should we run the first time they do something we don't like?

Well we certainly don't want to be with someone who is doing something that is totally unacceptable to us, but we also have to weigh the act with the frequency to determine what is “unacceptable” as we match that with the overall character of our partner.

For example, our partner drinks too much a couple of times of year on a special occasion when they're not getting behind the wheel, but the rest of the year they show us what an amazing person that they are. Does that hold the same weight as a partner who gets drunk every weekend or is unfaithful?

A relationship is like a delicate flower. You wouldn't want root rot or thorns to spoil that beauty so nurture it and it flourishes. Everything is relative and it's up to you to determine what is acceptable and what's a deal-breaker. And once you make that determination respect your own decision and don't comprise yourself.
