Ghosts and goblins, zombies and witches, we go door to door,
collecting confectionery riches. We traipse through the streets on All Hallows
Eve, displaying our costumes for all those to see.
But few of us know that this day from long ago,was ritualized by
Celtics, Druids and Christians alike. Yes, that’s right, for over 2000 years
now, festivals were celebrated on this night as people lit bonfires and wore
costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. The next day, November 1, the New Year
would come and honor be given to saints, martyrs and all their passed loved
ones.
Although we have lost most of the history of Halloween, we
take that time to dress up and have fun as we relive the more carefree time of
our youth.
Let this carefree time in your life continue as you skip
down the street and shuffle your feet. Throw up your arms,
then swing them around. And cherish the times when you don’t need to be so serious
about life.
Wishing you a day filled with only treats!
